'The White Tiger' Review

Image
The White Tiger is written by Arvind Adiga in 2008. Which is his Booker Prize winner novel. Here is my review regarding this book.  #  The portrayal of India shown in this text is: - Crowdy and areas full with slums - Pollution - Poverty - Corruption in every field is shown in real  # Balram's story is an archetype of 'rags and riches' . The story has the same story of a poor boy who suddenly becomes rich.  # Derrida's idea of deconstruction can be applied here too.. - Balram has killed his master and became rich. Here he could have done hard work to become rich or he could have stolen the money only. - He had done crime and then also he said he is not guilty. - Even he don't care for his family. In India servants are found most faithful person in family. But here Balram betrayed his master. He believes that he is better than Ashok his master, but actually he just giving false satisfaction to himself. Thank You.

Magic Land or Real World?

As a part of our study we have completed the Harry Potter's one part "Deathly Hallows" and the task is given by the teacher is here... (to see the main task click here)   The theme of choosing your destiny rather than being born into it extend throughout the book, right down from Harry Potter’s name. Choices means making life our OWN. The author also has described "choices" as a recurrent theme in the books. Harry claimed to Malfoy that he was able to decide who was the right sort on his own. Harry didn't choose to be made an orphan; that was inflicted upon him. He didn't choose to live with his "bigoted" and abusive aunt and uncle; or, for that matter, even to have wizard abilities. In fact, the "driving force" behind his early life's agenda was set for him by the choices of others. He was often punished for, "being." The author seems to be letting him discover t...

Are we have a sense of Ending?

Image
Booker Prize winner novel by Julian Barnes is a part of our syllabus and after completing the discussion in class, here is given a task by our professor Dr. Dilip Barad.  Regarding this novel I would like to express my view about these four points:  1. Title 2. Prose Style 3. Narrator 4. Over all Theme 1.Title of the Novel: The writer has carefully chosen the title of the novel from the book of Frank Kermode. In the novel there are " 3 Endings": A. Tony's life is ending because of his old age.  B. Changing the understanding and thinking about self, self-revealation happens.  C. Two lives ending by suicide: Robson and Adrian.  So by this way the title is appropriate to the novel.  2.Prose Style:  Writer has used post-modern writing technique. He has used "diary" as an object to tell his story. History is in the middle of the over all theme. Writer has used a retired man to Narrate the story. And the story...

Da Vinci Code; The Side Face

Image
As we have given a movie viewing task of the novel 'The Da Vinci Code' here is my response to some of the questions asked in post-viewing task. To see the original task blog click here .   1. (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind? In The Holy Bible there is The First Book of Moses, called Genesis. Here we came to know how God has created the whole Earth, Heaven and the Mankind. {1:1} In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. he name of the first {2:7} And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of; and man become a living soul. Paradise Lost by John Milton, the poem concerns the Biblical story of the Fall of Man: the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion f...

Classicism : "It is following ancient Greek or Roman principles and style in art and literature, generally associated with harmony, restraint, and adherence to recognized standards of form and craftsmanship, especially from the Renaissance to the 18th century." The difference between both: A. Romanticism and B. Classicism.... A. It is about feeling, instict and pleasure. B. Its about formality and mannerism. A. Democratic themes B. Elevated subject A. Ordinary language of people B. Highly crafted poetical language A. Realistic characters, situations and strong narrative element B. Composed in a formal style In short: Romanticism vs. Classicism 1. Imagism vs. Intellect 2. Liberty vs. Restrain 3. Follow Inspiration vs. Follow Masters 4. Rustic Life vs. Urban Life 5. O...

Tradition & Individual Talent

Image
Tradition con not be inherited. One can get it with great labor. According to me a writer or even a critic must have Historical sense. As Eliot says that  "The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its presence" If a writer or critic has a Historical sense than he could be more clear in his work. Because this sense involves both sense: The sense of Past and The sense of Present. When a writer starts writing in the beginning of his career he follows his predecessors. So we can say that, that is Tradition, that he follows. But after sometime when he develops his skill and reads more and more than his Individual Talent reflects in his writing.  Eliot says that Individual Talent is that in which l esser effect of Tradition(Predecessors) could be seen.  So Tradition and Individual Talent has connection. If one has read his time's tradition than only his own Individual Talent will come out.  ...

Poetry and Poem

Image
To differentiate poetry and poem we should first understand what is the difference between prose and poetry.. The difference between prose and poem: '' Poem is a work which is made up of highly rhythmic and lyrical words." It is used to express the imagination of a poet in an extraordinary form. When poet/poetess writes poem, his or her feeling is not like a common person. They think different, they can see different and express their observation and views differently. That makes poem.  i.e.,  Simple sentence:  The sun and moon looks like they are revolving around the earth. Poem :  The sun and moon revolving around the Earth;               As if they suggest the circle of death and Birth. (Self made) The difference between  Poem and Poetry: - Poem is a form in which both forms are concluded: speech and song . - They are mostly singable. They cover vast styles, genre and other elements....
